We’re hearing it more and more since mid-2020…people unhappy with weight gain or loss of energy and fitness since quarantine due to the modern pandemic. And unfortunately, 38-year-old Kevin Steele was no different.
With the loss of daily life routine, it’s understandable it can be tricky to keep motivated, but Kevin finally saw that nothing was more important than his health. Getting back on track was important for him, and he decided it was time to make the change back into feeling energized, healthy and driven.
That Eye-Opening Moment
Unhappy with where he was physically and mentally at the time, Kevin felt it best to start seeing a nutrition coach; he knew that with the right nutrition, he would make incredible progress and went on to set up a consultation.
“I was already a member of Anytime Fitness in Carrollwood, Florida so one day I just went into Annie Lamia’s office after a workout and asked her about nutrition programs,” he said.
“I opted for the nutrition side of things as opposed to personal training because I felt that is where I needed the most work. My only goal was to be comfortable in my own skin, and when I stepped on that Evolt scan for the first time, it was really eye-opening and embarrassing to have to face the reality that I was extremely unhealthy.”
From that moment on, Kevin worked hard to get the results he was aiming for, and having accessibility to the Evolt 360 was a key point of difference.
How It Was Done
Kevin’s nutrition focused solely on the approach of having 1 palm size of protein, 1 fist-size portion of vegetables, 1 cupped hand size of carbs and a thumb size of fat for every meal. Sounds very specific, doesn’t it? But to Kevin and his nutritionist, the overall concept worked, and he avoided food tracking and counting calories.
In combination with his nutrition improvements, Kevin also factored in exercise, because we know both come hand-in-hand when you’re looking for optimal results. So he stuck to a Push, Pull, Legs (PPL) system with extra cardio added to his routine to assist with weight loss.
“For me, cardio is mainly the elliptical; I enjoy the movement and it’s easier on my legs,” he said.
“I try to work out for about an hour – 5 minutes on the treadmill to get my heart rate up, 35-40 minutes of strength work, and then the remaining time is cardio.
“During my workouts, I mix a BCAA with creatine, plus I take daily supplements including a multi-vitamin, potassium, magnesium, fish oil and vitamin D3.”
The First Scan
Before Kevin got started on his journey to feeling better with health and wellness, he stepped on the Evolt 360 for a full-body scan. Having never had one done before, he said it was daunting to see the numbers in front of him in a full report, depicting all sorts of measurements like visceral fat area and subcutaneous fat mass. But looking back at it all now, it was one of the best things he’d ever done.

The Evolt For Accountability

“Some of those numbers and details I still don’t fully understand so we always do a monthly consultation to discuss all of the measurements.”
Kevin explained that combining nutrition with workouts and accountability with the Evolt 360 was the key to his success.
“I’ve tried to get healthy before with mixed results, and the best feedback I have is that a nutrition coach has been a game-changer for me,” he said.
“The lessons, scans, progress photos and check-ins have all played an integral part in my transformation; I have someone to talk to and hold me accountable.”
“The biggest takeaway or advice from all of this is consistency with my workouts, and diet is key. There are days I have bad workouts, skip a workout, eat a cheat meal, but I stick to the overall plan and stay consistent without being crazy.”
